Pet Lovers Do The Catwalk At Washington’s Annual Fashion For Paws Runway Show To Benefit Washington Humane Society

Whoever said “diamonds are a girl’s best friend,” didn’t have a dog.

On Saturday, May 1st the 9th Annual Fashion For Paws Runway Show returned to raise funds for The Washington Humane Society and it’s mission to provide kind care for the pets in our community while finding them loving, secure homes.

The event, MC’ed by local celebrity veterinarian Dr. Katy T. Nelson and WJLA’s Scott Thuman, kicked off at The Grand Hyatt in Washington, DC with a VIP reception for Sponsors, Donors, and Runway Participants. As the event filled up, guests were abuzz with anticipation to see the darling dogs of Washington strut their stuff down the runway with their humans.

The venue was stunning, with a fun runway created to look like the ultimate fashionista’s closet in bright pink. Naturally, the special backdrop also included doggie decor for girl’s best friend. Notable models walking with their furry companions to show their support included WUSA’s Nikki Burdine, Mark Del Rosso, EVP/COO of Audi International, Teresa Del Rosso, Owner, DC Elite Image, and George Pagonis, Executive Chef of Kapnos DC.

I also need to mention another person integral to the night’s success, the exceptional DJ Seyhan. Seyhan spun an impressive track list that stoked the energy of the excited crowd during the show, and kept the majority of guests on the dance floor until close. I will definitely be contacting him for my next event, and highly recommend his ability to create a memorable night for Facon Magazine readers as well if you have an occasion to be attended by DC’s glitterati.

An after-party followed the show, and as mentioned it was memorable and energetic with a well dressed crowd happily socializing and dancing. It was definitely one of the funnest and vibrant events I’ve been to this season, and will absolutely be added to my can’t-miss list for next year.

At the close of the event, the night had already raised over $400,000 for The Washington Humane Society. Interested in participating and walking the catwalk with your canine? About Fashion For Paws

Fashion for Paws® (F4P) benefiting the Washington Humane Society (WHS) began in 2007 with the first spring Runway Show. In just its first 8 years, the Fashion for Paws® Runway Show has been a great success, selling out each year, raising nearly $3.2 million for WHS and generating a significant amount of national and regional media coverage. In the fall of 2009, F4P launched as a year-round program based on the brand of the annual spring Runway Show. Through an array of themed fringe events, product merchandising opportunities, corporate sponsorships, individual gifts, and social media, F4P continually raises funds for WHS. All program initiatives serve as a platform to build up to the main event – the annual spring Runway Show based in Washington, DC.
