21st Annual Prevent Cancer Foundation Spring Gala Raises $1.6 Million For It’s Life Saving Mission

In March, The Prevent Cancer Foundation hosted its 21st Annual Spring Gala to advance the Foundation’s mission of saving lives through cancer prevention and early detection. Widely recognized as one of the signature charity events of the year, more than 900 guests from the diplomatic, business, government, medical, sports, media and social communities attended. The gala raised $1.6 million in support of programs that amplify the Foundation’s mission.

This year’s event honored Ireland and featured the theme, “Ireland: Legendary and Contemporary” with Her Excellency, Anne Anderson, the Ambassador of Ireland, serving as Honorary Patron. The Ambassador spoke of her country’s determined efforts to be at the forefront of the fight against cancer, with the planned adoption of a new National Cancer Strategy in 2015 and the goal of becoming a tobacco-free country by 2025.

“We were honored to be joined this evening by Ambassador Anderson, and many other luminaries from Washington, D.C. and around the world. Everyone has been touched by cancer in some way, and the Gala is a testament to the fact that prevention and early detection are becoming top priorities both here in the United States and around the globe.” -Carolyn Aldigé, President and Founder of the Prevent Cancer Foundation

The Gala also honored Senator Mike Crapo with the 2015 Cancer Champion award. Senator Crapo is a prostate cancer survivor and a respected leader on issues of cancer prevention, early detection, research funding and patient needs.
