IN THE BAG V: Charity Luncheon & Silent Auction Raises Over $100K For The American Red Cross

Purses for DC Preparedness!

This winter I joined The American Red Cross National Capital Region for their annual event, the 2014 “In the Bag V” at the McLean Hilton where over $100,000 was raised in under 3 hours.

Attendees enjoyed a beautiful luncheon with inspiring guest speakers sharing their personal stories of how the Red Cross swiftly came to their aide when they experienced hardships such as losing their homes to fire or being felled by natural disasters.

The theme was “Buy A Purse Save A Life,” with guests buzzing about the silent auction of new and gently used designer purses to benefit our local Red Cross. Designers included Tory Burch, Louis Vuitton, Celine, and Michael Kors; who did a wonderful guest intro as a sponsor at the beginning of the program.

DC Red Cross provide emergency food, shelter and supplies to local families uprooted by home fires and other disasters, teach first aid, CPR and AED training, swimming and lifeguarding to businesses, schools and individuals and provide assistance to the men and women of the military and their families here and abroad. It was a sold-out, fun event with great energy for such an important cause, and I highly encourage attending next year. Just don’t forget to buy your tickets early!
